One night quenched of light
as we lay unraveled in fold of sheets
like unwilling fish for morning fry
she turned to me and asked
what made you choose me?
I wanted to say
even if you were not here
and by moon I could not make out
the clemency of your shoulders
narrow and bony without their wings
even if in the darkness your scent did not
open a box of flowers crusted with honey
longing I cannot describe but with touch
sighting the marzipan of your curves
I would have wanted
the girl whose legs reminded me of a childs
in their awkward gait as foals will stand unsure
elongated against distance
their large eyes blinking
unknowing of what they need more
the urgency of galloping
or to seek warmth among others
you were a kite
striking branches twisting free
you were a rapture
exploding under water in silver shoal
you were a song
broken against coming darkness
bidding dreams welcome
you were a cacti
weathering assault, growing deeper with
each rush of red sand
covering over potential like a hidden lake
shall glimmer unseen
until revealed she takes her
place marking the world
in gentle caress and with one
stride opens even the most
reluctant to her behest
I didn’t choose you
you chose me like spring
conducts the sleeping to unveil
bidden, make your climb
toward her galvanizing urge
This is the 2 time I read it and I will read it for 2 more. Marvelous
You had me jumping from the taste of marzipan to the sting of a cactus needle !
Quel érotisme merveilleux chéri!!! 🙂 ❤
Ahh…the imagery and metaphor are amazing!
It’s the same comment and I can’t say it enough – I’m just incredulous at how you can wrap your way around a lengthy piece and finish with a home run
Beautifully written !
ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL TO READ……. A GIFT IN WRITING INDEED !. MAY MANY READ YOUR COLUMN AND BE REFRESHED………………
A marvellous, poetic, image-packed, response to that question so difficult to answer.
Choices we make in life are what we r. Great 👍 lines so much depth in them. 👍👍👍👍👍
Candice, I love your close, but I must confess the imagery of “like unwilling fish for morning fry” is so unusual it made me picture exactly how the two lovers laid on the sheets. Keith
I cannot express how much I love this.
Wow thank you! I really appreciate that and it helps me so much to know people feel that way!
ha ha ha! I was thinking of kippers for the morning combined with sardines in a can I think you got this just right! 😉
It is isn’t it? Maybe it should not be but I have found that it is.
Thank you! I do hope so!
Dear Vidur thank you so much !
Thank you! I try! That’s all we can do isn’t it? 🙂
I’m really glad you liked it! 🙂 thank you!
Thank you lovely lady!
Enjoyed reading it ☺️
You are extremely appreciated for your kindness!
Well, they both better be kippers or sardines as the smell to the other would not be very romantic. My wife and I have been married 31 years, so we both must have onions on our salad or neither one of us.
ha ha ha ha! So true! hadn’t thought of that! ha ha ha! was thinking of those romantic french films where everything is squalid! ha ha ha! 🙂
I felt this one C… I really did…. It flowed into me and around me… I felt the words…the person (the you) …the feeling… its beautiful….very real….delicately intensely passionate… loved it…
Thank you lovely one it is most appreciated my FRIEND
