the elongation of emotion

Too much sweat to be polite

too much ear wax

keep the candles alight

too much anxiety

drink the bottle empty

too many blisters

from tight shoes dancing on empty

too much heartache

to justify loving you

the elongation of emotion

shedding her wings to get through

out into the glorious beyond

where the only sting is the lance

of fresh air on your cheeks
