220px-Beethoven_-_Concerto_in_C_minor,_cadenza.pngWhat is life?

but a pinch

a child’s voice garbled underwater

sinking like stone’s cadenza wish

for more or less

but just

this round

made with cupped hands

holding cream in meshed fingers

lift me over the wall

what do we discover?

in gardens walked with made

I have been unable to let you out of my blood

you are the circle of red wrapped around my wrist

a memory of starting point

whistling in cold pirouetting trees

I light an amber fire

to keep you from passing by

don’t stop

don’t call my name

cool the snare about my self

I may recognize

I may respond

It was ever my way

you had my brine rubbed into permanence

I was pricked on the thumb

the cast of fate showing me our join

a thin silver line not wide enough

to separate us

the villain lies in that ache

birthing longing on your shore

will you pull me closer

stitch ever, the bind fastening

a snatch of braid

wound like ivy to darken

descended skies

in timerous pause

  1. ha ha ha! Is that true? Oh I had a laugh at that! I had no idea! So precious hunting bird you’re an idiot? That’s really good – out goes my appreciation of hawks 😉

  2. This words echo in my head, I have no words to describe what you just did to me (your lines) Candice, Candice you are……. no other poet makes me feel the words like you do.

  3. Ah I am surprised you think that but it does my heart good to know someone feels that way about what I do, I would hate to write badly and nobody tell me, equally it is inspirational to know sometimes what I write really affects someone

  4. Candice Louisa,
Minor, I know, but still — he outmatchs . . . he outmatches
This was not the motivation for my response, though.
    More like this:
    (1) ” his cruel muscle made to hunt even places once inviolate”
Does this mean far away places?
    (2) Gliding Hawk = “the circle of red wrapped around my wrist” and “I was pricked on the thumb” and
“you pull me closer” (with its wings) and “that deeded ache” — a hunting bird on the arm of a trainer.
    (3) “derelict in your promise errant LIKE gliding hawk” seems to be a metaphor for ** not returning** — and this person was a “one night stand” ? who decided to return?
A bit of a stretch, maybe. Complicated, definitely. That’s my “bird’s eye” view on this effort.

  5. Thank you very much Larry! mmm you ask hard and good questions. 1 means ‘the strength in their oppression makes it impossible to be even’ and 2 is a metaphor to how love can hurt and be seen in many differing ways holding us back. 3 means simply not keeping a promise, not returning. A stretch maybe … I admit I often take on big subjects and I may not always succeed with them very well! Thank you for your candor it is very appreciated!

Indeed, what is life? Candice the best of the best
