This unspoiled place
holds a silence and a sound both
in the careen of wild bird, dove-tailing against light
swish tailed-fox, caught in glimpsing treeline, scar of russet
your wool pulled and caught like thoughts on wire
I felt you inside, like mercury, descending to places I’d locked
tight against battering fists and claim
how did you learn the maze and possess
parts of me I had yet to give permission?
though all of us are like the wool, caught and fluttering
against a world of happen-chance and calamity
it is only perhaps, in those untethered moments
love, unexplained by all things
captures in unguarded step
drowning tightly held belief
we are our own master
and in this yield
in your arms and the void calling overhead
a vast sky holds swell of rain
just long enough
for our safe ascent
Captivating lines here:
“I felt you inside, like mercury, descending to places I’d locked
tight against battering fists and claim
how did you learn the maze and possess
parts of me I had yet to give permission?”
This one is touching, gives one a little hope regarding love too.
Oh, Candice…you see!
Reblogged this on The Militant Negro™.
So beautiful
Love this!
Beautiful…I have yet to read anything of yours that is not.
Beyond beautiful, as is your heart. xx
Your trademark superb imagery
A poet (William Ernest Henley) wrote:
“I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.”
But in moments such as this, it is not so. Something greater takes hold, love.
Stunning!

I am so glad this experience has happened very few times in my life. Trust is such a hard pill for most to swallow. I adore this poem.
This is beautiful Candice
There is definitely a calm mellowing of your poetry, or maybe it’s an ‘untethering’ of something. I like the result.
Just incredible.
Beautiful… I love it…
Beautifully touching poetry
It’s never easy, to trust someone so much that you become vulnerable, showing your most secretive parts, not knowing if the person you show it to is going to cherish it or break it, and hurt you…
I relate to this so strongly at the moment.. the way you write is so so beautiful truly truly unique…<3
Sigh. I miss love.
Deep and profound.
This one pulls me in, like the mermaid beckoning in the image.
Powerful.
